How this solar calculation works

Your monthly bill divided by your rate per kWh gives your electricity use. A system's yearly output is its size in kWp multiplied by peak sun hours, days in the year, the performance ratio and system losses — so in most of South Africa one kWp produces around 1 442 kWh a year.

Roof space matters as much as consumption: about 6 m² is needed per kWp, so your usable area caps the size whatever your bill. Savings are the generation multiplied by the rate you pay today, before tariff increases, which lift returns further.
